Harold A. Copes Sr., 73, of Fitch Avenue, Auburn, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013 in Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester.
Mr. Copes was born in Auburn, the son of the late Harold A. and Frances Hill Copes and has resided here all of his life. He was employed by the Glen Pavement Company of Waterloo.
Surviving is his wife, Susan Harris Copes, of Auburn; four sons, Harold A. Copes Jr., of Auburn, Brett F. Copes, of Auburn, Junnell E. Copes, of Auburn, and Theodore “Teddy” Spence, of Charlotte, N.C.; four daughters, Frances Irene Copes, of Auburn, Laquanna Nichole Copes, of Auburn, Dachee Baker, of Syracuse, and Darlene Hillard, of Macon, Ga.; 19 grandchildren, Dequan, Brandon, Angelique, Shameek, Larissa, Devonte, Brett Jr., Kyrissa, Brett III, Brianna, Ariana, Keyaran, Kassandra, and Javon Copes, Jessica Barrows, Armani Bell, Tyra Pemberton, Tyrone Pemberton, and Shaniqya McNabb; several nieces and nephews; close friends known as the “Park Place Boys,” Nate, Merritt, Money, Jump Monkey, Nasir, Mike, Frank Baker, Tony Boom, Tone (Borges) Twoosie, JP Bowman, and Blue.
Mr. Copes was predeceased by two brothers, Henry and James Copes, and a sister, Mildred Lammons, who died several years ago.
Friends are invited to attend a funeral service which will be held at noon on Friday, Nov. 1, 2013 in the Roosevelt Memorial Baptist Church, 101 Fitch Ave., Auburn. Interment will be in Fort Hill Cemetery, Auburn. Friends are invited to call from 11 a.m. to noon on Friday in the church prior to the service.
