Seneca Falls - Tony Centra, 89, passed away Sunday (October 6, 2013) in Strong Memorial Hospital. Friends and family are invited to call, Friday (October 11) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Mull Funeral Home, 113 Virginia Street, Waterloo. The rosary will be recited at the conclusion of the calling hours at the funeral home. A funeral Mass will be Saturday (October 12) at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Mary's Church, Waterloo. Burial will follow, with full military honors, conducted by: American Legion Post 435 and VFW Post 6433, in Saint Columbkille Cemetery, Seneca Falls.
Tony had requested memorials be directed to Saint Francis/Saint Clare Parish, 25 Center Street, Waterloo, N.Y. 13165.
He was born on December 22, 1923 in Seneca Falls, the son of the late, Placido "Frank" and Lydia Bianconi-Centra. Tony was a 1938 graduate of Saint Patrick's School, 1942 graduate of Mynderse Academy and attended George Washington College until he went to serve in the US Navy. He helped defend our country until he was honorably discharged, September 3, 1952, earning the rank of Radioman Second Class. He went on to work at the Seneca Army Depot, Building 701 in the communications department until his retirement on June 22, 1966. Tony was a proud member of Saint Francis/Saint Clare Parish, American Legion Post 366 and 4th Degree Knight of Columbus both in Seneca Falls.
He is survived by many good friends and neighbors.
Anthony is preceded in death by his sister, Antoinette.
