Shortsville/Romulus - Dorothea "Dot" Campbell Clyde, age 82 of Shortsville, died on Monday (July 15, 2013) at Newark Wayne Hospital. There will be no prior calling hours. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Friday (July 19, 2013), 7 p.m. at the Geneva Presbyterian Church (24 Park Place Geneva N.Y.) Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Whitney Cemetery in Seneca Castle.

Dorothea was born in Buffalo, N.Y., August 12, 1930, the adopted daughter of Mrs. Sadie Campbell. She resided for 30 years in Romulus, 30 years in Seneca Castle before retiring and living in Geneva, Florida and Shortsville. She graduated from Romulus Central School as Salutatorian of her class in 1948, and the Rochester Business Institute in 1949. She retired from Goulds Pumps in 1990 as a Corpor ate Administrative Assis tant. She was a member of the Romulus and Geneva Presbyterian Church for 67 years where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a member of the Emporium Spa in Clearwater, FL. and Seneca Falls Chiropractic College where she took water aerobics and used the exercise room. Dorothea's love for swimming and the water was climaxed by a ride on a Seadoo on beautiful Cayuga Lake with her husband driving when she was 78 years old. Her love of dancing followed her through the years. She and her husband Bill had wonderful times dancing together. They loved classical and country music. Upon retiring they spent the first year traveling in their motor coach, a 35 foot Beaver Diesel Pusher, traveling from coast to coast visiting all of the United States.
Dorothea is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, William Clyde Sr. of Shortsville; three children, William Jr. (Jacqueline) Clyde of Farmington, Stephen (Mary) Clyde of Clifton Springs, Cynthia Michalak of Yorba Linda, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Jessica, Sarah, Katelyn, Jacob, Elan, Megan and Nathan; special nephew Robert (Marlene) Taylor.
Dorothea was predeceased by her granddaughter Carrie Clyde; her mother Sadie Campbell; sister Ruth Taylor and brother Halsey Campbell.
Funeral arrangements have been made with the Cheney Funeral Home, 70 Main Street, Phelps.
