Henry L. McDougal RUSHVILLE - Henry McDougal, 94, died on Monday, June 10, 2013, at his home. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Rushville Lions Club, P.O. Box 113, Rushville, NY 14544. "Mac" was born in 1918 and was the son of the late Floyd and Mabel Beach McDougal. He graduated from Sandy Creek High School in 193, and Cornell University in 1941. He was an agriculture teacher, first in Lyndonville, N.Y., and then at Middlesex Valley Central School. Over his 32-year career in public education, Mac had been an ag teacher, shop teacher, vice principal at Middlesex Valley Central School and transportation manager; and was the junior high school principal at Marcus Whitman Central School when he retired in 1973. Active in his community, Mac had served as a justice of the peace for the village of Rushville. He was a charter member of Rushville Lions Club and longtime member of First Methodist Church in Rushville. Mac was a member of Rushville Masonic Lodge 377 and Middlesex Conservation Club. He was a recipient of the New York State Conservationist of the Year award. He also served as an instructor to a group of local farmers, the Barnyard Philosophers. Mac is survived by two sons, Ronald E. McDougal and Roger A. (Linda Welsh) McDougal; four grandchildren, Katherine (Kurt) McCandless, Andrew (Laura) McDougal, Phoebe McDougal and Audrey McDougal; three great-grandchildren, Alexis McDougal, Jacob Wheeler and Ellery Wheeler; four sisters, Janet Peipenbrok, Iva (Col. Robert) Parrott, Mable (Clarence) Shelmidine and Jo-Anne (Richard) Hatz; several nieces and nephews; and caregivers, Cathy, Amy, Linda, Elise, Sandy and Elizabeth. Mac was predeceased by his wife, Hannah Fang McDougal in 1999.
