RED CREEK | Charles I. VanHorn, 85, of Red Creek, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse. He was an excavating heavy equipment operator for J K Tobin Construction Co. in Jamesville for more than 35 years. Charlie loved and was loved by his family and enjoyed John Deere tractors, gardening, woodworking, and country music.
He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara, in 2005, and by three brothers, James, George, and Gerald VanHorn.
Surviving are his children, William (Phyllis) VanHorn, of Cato, Charles (Laurie) VanHorn, of Red Creek, Karen (Doug) DeMaintenon, of Orlando, Fla., and Rocco (Cari) Giacolone, of Cato; siblings, Joseph (Sandra) VanHorn, of Meridian, Earl (Anne) VanHorn, of Cato, Oliver (Shari) VanHorn, of Cato, Harold (Dorothy) VanHorn, of Cato, and Beulah Cavanagh, of Weedsport; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 22 at Foster Funeral Home, 837 Cayuga St., Hannibal with services at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Cato Union Cemetery in Cato.
