PENN YAN - Donald E. Curbeau, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away Monday (April 22) at the Homestead. Calling hours will be held Wednesday (April 24) from 6 to 8 p.m. at Weldon Funeral Home. Mass will be held on Thursday (April 25) at 11 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Food for the Needy or a charity of one's choice .
Don was born November 18, 1924, the son of James and Mildred Grevelding Curbeau. He served with the U.S. Army for three years with the 12th Armored Division overseas. He purchased Loans Department Store with his brother James before opening Children's Toggery, which he owned and operated for 28 years. He was an avid sports enthusiast and coached baseball for many years. Don was also a lifetime member of the VFW and served as Treasurer for Food for the Needy for 37 years. He was also an usher at St. Michael's Church.
Don is survived by his wife of 61 years, Eleanor; one son, Marshall (Karen) Wren of Webster; three daughters, Mrs. Donna (Carl) Hammond of Horseheads, Mrs. Debra (Jeffrey) Weiss of Walworth and Mrs. Diane (Gene) Roberts of Canandaigua, as well as seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, James R. Curbeau.
