WAYLAND - Mary E. Applin, age 88, passed away peacefully Tuesday (April 16th, 2013) at Vincent House in Wayland.
Friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Walter E. Baird & Sons Funeral Home, 300 West Naples St., Wayland. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be a memorial service scheduled for a later date at the Wayland United Methodist Church.
Contributions may be made to Noyes Memorial Hospital, Dansville, the Vincent House (Comfort Care Home), Wayland or the Wayland United Methodist Church.
Mary was born December 6, 1924 in Perry, a daughter of Bain & Charlotte (Duesenberry) Bolton. She was a graduate of Perry High School. She married Theodore E. Applin on July 1, 1943 in Baltimore, Md.; he survives. Mary was a former Home Health Aide for Livingston County Health Dept. and most recently she worked at Kids @ Jean's Place in Wayland. Mary was a lifetime member of the Wayland United Methodist Church. She enjoyed music, pets and the great outdoors, but most of all she loved get-togethers with her family.
Mary is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Ted; her sons, Theodore Lee (Fran) Applin, Kenneth (Ethel) Applin and Chris (June) Applin; her daughters, Jeanie Smith and Shelley (Dan) Pletcher; her grandchildren, Terrie (Peter) Conklin, Mandy Applin (Jeffery Earl), Brian (Phyllis) Applin and Leanne (Harvey) Roadcap; her great-grandchildren, Kirstyn, Katelyn and Bryce Applin; her sister, Marjorie Shepard; several nieces, nephews, cousins and her cat "Tigie."
