Richard Garnish CLIFTON SPRINGS - Dr. Richard Garnish, age 84, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2013, at Clifton Springs Hospital Nursing Home. Friends may call on Friday, April 19, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, April 20, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Patrick Funeral Home, 25 W. Main St., Clifton Springs. A service to celebrate Richard's life will be held on Saturday, June 1, at 2 p.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church, 1 Teft Ave., Clifton Springs. Friends may contribute in Richard's memory to St. John's Episcopal Church or House of John. Richard was born on May 31, 1928, in Syracuse, N.Y. and was the son of the late Lysle and Selma Garnish. He was a captain in the U.S. Army, stationed in Japan during the Korean War. Richard owned and operated his family practice in Clifton Springs for 39 years, retiring in 1995. Richard was a University of Rochester alumni and member of their athletic hall of fame. He was a charter member of Clifton Springs Country Club. He was an honorary member of Clifton Springs Rotary Club and received their Paul Harris Fellowship award. He enjoyed bowling and was an avid Syracuse University basketball and football fan. Richard was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, friend and doctor to all. He will be sadly missed. Richard is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Marion Garnish; children, Catherine (Thomas) Sedlack, Patricia (Lewis) Barber, Nancy Garnish and Christopher (Jim Parrillo) Garnish; grandchildren, Betsy S. Monillas, Michael Sedlack, Jason Barber, Molly Barber, Ian Garnish-Parrillo and Theresa Garnish-Parrillo; and brother, Dr. John (Marion) Garnish.
