Francis J. Murnane Francis J. Murnane, of Canandaigua, died unexpectedly and peacefully in his sleep at his home on Sunday, April 14, 2013. He was 83. Frank was born on March 20, 1930, in New York City. He grew up in Yonkers, N.Y. Francis proudly served in the U.S. National Guard. In 1961, he married Marie Dwyer. They had four children. They raised their family in Spring Valley, Rockland County. After Frank retired from the United Auto Workers in 1989, he and his wife moved to Canandaigua, where he enjoyed the last 23 years. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Frank is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marie (Dwyer) Murnane; daughters, Marianne (Martin) O'Shea of Bardonia, N.Y., Teresa Murnane of Geneseo and Patricia (Christopher) Joy of Walden, N.Y.; son, Francis (Barbara) Murnane of Dumfries, Va.; and nine grandchildren, Joseph, Jack and Kevin O'Shea, Sean Murnane, Brian and Hannah VanWuyckhuyse and Liam, Conor and Caroline Joy. He will be greatly missed. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home, 321 S. Main St., New City, N.Y. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery.
