Truck Spills Liquid Manure in Bath

A tractor trailer rollover left a smelly mess in Bath Saturday afternoon.

The Steuben County Sheriff's Department says the big rig rolled over on Shattuck Road at about 3:40 Saturday afternoon, spilling about six thousand gallons of liquid manure and 30 gallons of diesel fuel. The cleanup took about four hours. The mess was diverted into a nearby creek, where it was contained.

A DEC spill response team worked with Sheriff's Deputies, Bath firefighters and State Police on the cleanup. The truck, driven by 29 year old Robert Taylor, was owned by a local farm. No word on what caused the accident.
