A former corrections officer has been found guilty of insurance fraud. David Perry is a resident of West Elmira and was once employed at the Elmira Correctional Facility,
This week, he was found to have faked an injury to obtain a disability retirement. He was found guilty of three felonies: Second-degree grand larceny, second-degree insurance fraud, and first-degree offering a false instrument for filing.
This marked Perry’s second trial on the matter, the first trial in August ended with a hung jury.
