Congressman Tom Reed met with emergency responders this week at a First Responders Advisory Board meeting at Cornell. The group focused primarily on funding opportunities including grants made available to emergency and first responders. Reed also gave an overview of legislation passed thus far in the House and upcoming bills relating to emergency responders. The House recently completed the appropriations process for Homeland Security, which includes FEMA and firefighter grants. Cornell Police Chief Kathy Zoner called the meeting a rare opportunity to bring together such a large group of emergency responders in one place. Representatives from 15 agencies throughout the Finger Lakes and Southern Tier attended.
