Drowning Man Rescued Wednesday Night From Pond

An Alberta, Canada man had to be rescued from a pond in Bath Wednesday night.

State Police and Steuben County Sheriff's Deputies were called to Camper's Haven Campground shortly before 8 p.m. for the report of a person drowning.  55 year old Earl Gallant was located in about 12 feet of water, approximately 50 feet from shore, after being submerged for about 13 minutes.

After being taken to Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital, Gallant was airlifted by Life Net to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre.  He is listed in critical condition.

An investigation revealed Gallant had entered the water to rescue a dog that was struggling.  The dog survived.
