On June 21st the Ontario County Sheriff Office and Ontario County Humane Society responded to 8731 Main Street Honeoye after the owner of a Siberian Husky reported that the dog escaped on June 20th and returned to the residence on the morning of June 21st with dried blood on it's head, neck, shoulders and front legs. The dog was transported to a veterinary clinic where it was radio-graphed and the results showed hundreds of shots embedded in the dog. The dog was treated and released. The wounds were all superficial and the dog is expected to recover completely.
Investigation revealed that the dog entered a chicken coop behind a nearby residence and killed all five chickens. The owner of the chickens discovered the dog inside the coop and shot the dog with a shotgun, causing it to flee the area.
A consult with Environmental Conservation Police and the Ontario County District Attorney's Office revealed that there are no criminal offenses as the owner was protecting his livestock. As such, the case will be closed.
