A former Canandaigua Academy Spanish teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a student pleaded guilty in Canandaigua City Court Wednesday morning. Lisa Footer, of 60 Clifton St., Manchester, was charged last November after allegedly having sexual contact with a 16-year-old student.
Footer plead guilty to endangering the welfare of a child May 8 in front of Judge Stephen Aronson. Canandaigua city police say Footer was charged with third-degree sexual abuse, forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child, all misdemeanors. These charges stemmed from an incident in the Canandaigua Byrne Dairy parking lot. Footer faced similar charges in Manchester. Ontario County sheriff’s deputies charged her in November after she was alleged to have had sexual contact with a teen inside her home last July. She pleaded guilty to sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child charges. She received no jail time for the crimes but three years probation. An order of protection was also issued prohibiting Footer from making contact with the victim for three years. Footer resigned from Canandaigua Academy in December.
