Tompkins County Deer Star In PBS Documentary (video)

Deer from Tompkins County have made it.  A new wildlife documentary on PBS has elevated the animals into showbiz.

Deer from the Village of Cayuga Heights are a central element of “The Private Life of Deer,” which debuts at 8 p.m. tonight on the network’s NATURE documentary series.

North America’s deer population has bounded by 2,900 percent over the past century, according to the documentary. The film focuses on why deer thrive in suburban areas, and where they go and what they do when typically out of sight.

For years residents in the village of Cayuga Heights-outside of Ithaca-have argued on how to control the deer population.
