Wild Water Derby Back This Weekend

The Wild Water Derby took a year off due to weather conflicts but it is back and better than ever Saturday and Sunday. The event has been ranked by the American Canoe Association as one of the top five paddling events in the country and brings in two hundred plus participants each year, as well as four to five thousand. The Wild Water Derby has become a tradition in Shortsville/Manchester with paddling and racing. Although it is a racing event, the number one priority is having a good time! You can join in the fun by paddling just about anything that can float. We have a kayak, canoe and raft divisions.

The derby has a raft parade and launch of kayaks, canoes and rafts on Saturday, followed by the Flat Water Regatta and canoe and kayak slalom on Sunday.  According to the website, the spectator favorite is the homemade raft event.  Participants in this event get points for creativity and humor.
The event, which is open to the public.
