Two people are dead in Madison County in what police believe was a murder-suicide. WSYR-TV in Syracuse reports the bodies of Edward and Michele Green were discovered around 4:30 this morning by State Police.
Troopers were first called last night after their son called 911 saying he had not heard from them.
Channel 9 reports troopers arrived to the sound of gunshots, but did not enter the home on Seminary Street in DeRuyter until early this morning. That's when they made the grim discovery.
DeRuyter Central School Superintendent Charles Walters said Michele Green was a beloved staff member whose death in an apparent murder-suicide was hitting the tiny school district hard today.
He spoke with reporters in the parking lot of the DeRuyter Central School, directly across Railroad Street from the house where Michele Green, a secretary in the school's guidance office, and her husband, Edward, were found dead early this morning.
