Two Men Arrested For Allegedly Stealing Fertilizer

It's a powerful component for making a bomb such as the one that brought down the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City. It's also used for making meth. The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two men in connection with the theft of anhydrous ammonia Thursday morning at a farm on Shields Road in the Town of Venice.

Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a farm where the property owner said that he had witnessed a suspicious van repeatedly driving past his place. After discovering that his fertilizer tanks  had been tampered with the owner then followed the van into Tompkins County where it was eventually located and stopped by the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Department.

33 year old Casey Aldrich of Elkland, Pennsylvania and 34 year Timothy Hickey of Corning stand charged with Grand Larceny and Possession of burlgar’s tools. Both subjects were arraigned in the Town of Venice Court. Aldrich, who is currently on parole in Pennsylvania, is being held without bail. Hickey was remanded to the Cayuga County Jail in lieu of 5-thousand dollars cash bail.
