Local health officials confirm there has been an upturn in Pertussis or whooping cough cases in the area. Ontario County Public Health Director Mary Beer says the tiniest among us can suffer the most.
It's long been known as whooping cough because there is a literal whooping noise at the end of the cough as a victim tries to get more air.
