Waterloo Community Garden: It's Time to Plan

Sure, there’s snow on the ground, but now’s the time to plan to plant.

The first meeting of the year for the Waterloo Community Garden will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, February 26th, at Lyons National Bank. Those attending should be ready to chat about last year's garden, what worked and what didn't, and ideas for what to plant this year. The garden has doubled in size the year, so there will be plenty of room to grow lots of food stuffs.

New members are welcome to be a part of the garden community. Membership is free to those willing to work in the garden. Call Jim Snow at 315-729-2057 or Ruth Townson and Josh at the Presbyterian Church Food Pantry, 585-743-2006 for a registration form and the garden rules and guidelines.

Garden members share in the harvest.  Extra food is donated to community food pantries.  Weekly meetings allow members to discuss work projects and share recipes and food preservation ideas.

Cash donations to the Waterloo Community Garden may be mailed to 102 E. Williams St., Waterloo, NY 13165. Checks should be made payable to the Waterloo Community Garden or WCG.

For additional Information please contact Jim Snow, interim garden manager, at 315-729-2057 or email at snowman@rochester.rr.com.
