An elderly man crashed into a utility poll Monday afternoon on Seymour Street in Auburn. Police believe the 88-year-old, who's name has not been released, suffered a medical attack that caused the crash. He had been transported by helicopter to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, but the chopper had to turn around because of windy conditions. The victim was driven instead to the hospital, where he later died. Nearly a dozen homes lost power, but NYSEG says all power has been restored.
