Phil Says Bring On Spring!

One day a year they are rock stars as people pinned their hopes on them for an early spring. The rest of the year groundhogs or woodchucks are just plain pests. Walt Nelson from the Cornell Cooperative Extension Service says that groundhogs are rodents that love to munch on the vegetation in your lawn and garden. And the holes they make, oh boy.

Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow today, thereby predicting an early spring.  Non-forecasting groundhogs hibernate from the first frost to early spring. With snow on the ground Finger Lakes Groundhogs are still snoozing today.
