Canadian singer songwriter Kathleen Edwards will perform as part of the Smith Club Series on Saturday February 9 at Ventosa Vineyards, Route 96A, in Geneva, beginning at 7:30 pm.
Critics have given high praise to each of Edward’s four recording efforts, beginning with her first full length album, Failer, released in the United State in 2003. With that Rolling Stone declared Edwards “an artist to watch” and critics from NPR, The New York Times and Blender praised her songwriting and voice that “soars like a gull over a lonely interstate.” (Spin Magazine).
Her latest effort, Voyaguer has placed Edwards on countless “2012 Best Of” lists for alternative country, folk and pop music, and brought her back to the Late Night with David Letterman stage to perform “Change the Sheets,” one of the album’s most acclaimed songs. Produced by Justin Vernon of Bon Iver, the album chronicles a love affair from beginning to end.
She will be accompanied in Geneva with her trio, including Jim Bryson and Gord Tough. Sera Cahoone will open the concert with a solo set.
The Smith Club Series is a small concert project of the Smith Center for the Arts that brings intimate concert experiences to venues in Geneva and the Finger Lakes. Ventosa Vineyards will also offer dinner from 6-7 pm before the show. Tickets for the concert alone are $20, and $45 for concert and dinner.
