Newkirk, in a mugshot taken after her arrest in October
Brenda Newkirk was in Cayuga County Court Thursday morning, we as reported yesterday. 40-year-old Newkirk, of Conquest, was arraigned on the October shooting death of her live-in boyfriend following an argument. Newkirk pleading not guilty to second-degree murder.
On the night of October 28th, police say Henry Davis called 911 to report an argument between himself and Newkirk. Then the call dropped. A few minutes later, Newkirk called back and told the 911 operator she had shot Davis. When deputies arrived, they found him dead.
Newkirk was returned to jail after the arraignment without bail on the recommendation of the prosecution.
