Canandaigua Man Arrested After Rummaging Through Cars In Restaurant Parking Lot

A Canandaigua man was arrested Friday night after Canandaigua Police got a report of a suspicious person rummaging through vehicles in the Villager Bar and Restaurant on South Main Street in Canandaigua. On scene police located 27-year old Steven J. Randall Jr, who was later identified by witnesses as the suspicious male. Randall was subsequently arrested for petit larceny after he stole 2 packs of cigarettes from a vehicle.


While being arrested, Randall complained of pain and was transported to Thompson Hospital where he was treated and released. Randall also tried to flee on foot while police were escorting Randall to the patrol car. After a short foot chase, Randall was taken back into custody and additionally charged with Escape in the 2nd degree, a Class E felony. Randall was committed to the Ontario County Jail without bail where he will await arraignment.
