An Elmira woman is accused of stealing credit card information from customers while working as a waitress at a Friendly's restaurant in Chemung County.
Jasmine Irvin allegedly used a handheld skimmer to copy the credit card information, which she then used to make unlawful purchases in excess of 1-THOUSAND dollars. She's been charged with felony identity theft and was immediately jailed following arraignment. Additional charges are pending.
Police urge consumers to be cognizant their credit card’s location, even when paying at restaurants. Some skimmer devices are as small as a cigarette lighter and easy to use.
