
Earlier this week the Cayuga County Sheriff's Office announced the creation of a snowmobie unit. It's the first time in several years the county has had such a unit. Sheriff David Gould says the federal government helped to make it possible.
Gould says the funding makes this the most powerful snowmobile unit in county history.
The seven deputies who make the unit go through extensive training, and Sheriff Gould says it's all done in-house.
This snowmobile unit in Cayuga County means people who ride them should pay closer attention to the rules.
The sheriff wants you to know it won't be the wild west on snow trails any longer.
