For the second time this week, an emergency meeting of the Cayuga County Legislature has been scheduled. The Auburn Citizen reports the meeting is set for tonight. A similar meeting was declared Tuesday night, then cancelled, then re-scheduled.
The purpose of the meeting then, and the meeting tonight, is a discussion about Joseph Bennett, the legislator forced into legal silence for a year over his job with Cayuga Community College. Republicans filed action early last year because the Legislature votes on the school's budget.
Bennett has not been allowed to vote because of the pending litigation. His lawyer proposed a solution last month to legislators that would allow Bennett to vote on matters unrelated to the school. Finger Lakes News Radio will continue keeping an eye on this developing story.
