No decision made about Joseph Bennett during an emergency meeting of the Cayuga County Legislature that almost didn't happen. The Auburn Citizen reports the meeting last evening was canceled because of a scheduling conflict. Then it was back on -- but Bennett was not happy. He stormed out of the meeting room.
Since early last year, Bennett has not been allowed to vote since Republican legislators raised questions about the legality of his seat. Bennett also works at Cayuga Community College, whose budget is voted on in the Legislature.
For now, the Democrat who was elected in November 2011 must continue remaining silent and unable to cast any votes.
