Joseph Bennett's year of silence might come to an end today. The Auburn Citizen reports an executive session will take place tonight at an emergency meeting of the Cayuga County Legislature. Bennett, a Democrat, was elected in November 20111 to represent District 10 in Auburn, but Republicans in the Legislature took legal action early in 2012.
Bennett also works for Cayuga Community College, and the Legislature votes on the college's budget. As a result of all this, Bennett has not been allowed to vote until these issues can be resolved. Bennett's lawyer has been working on a deal, where Bennett would be allowed to vote, except on anything relating to the school.
The meeting will take place tonight, after a Public Works meeting. Finger Lakes News Radio will monitor the situation.
