Frustrated victims of Hurricane Sandy in the Northeast watched as a vote on a 60 billion dollar funding measure for them was canceled just before the previous Congress wrapped up its work last week. Congressman Tom Reed said there was a great amount of concern by many members of the House regarding the amount of pork that was included in the bill from the Senate.
The House on Friday approved a 9.7 billion dollar aid package. Lawmakers in the new Congress sworn in on Thursday will weigh in on the remaining 51 billion dollars in broader aid on January 15th.
