A former Steuben County man has surrendered to Texas authorities for the death of a former Hornell woman. 27 year old Melissa Eason was found dead New Year's Day by New Braunfels, Texas authorities, who went to the apartment she shared with her boyfriend after a family member of his wanted her welfare checked.
Nate Fox was taken into custody Friday night at a billiards hall without incident after he contacted police wanting to turn himself in. An autopsy revealed Eason's cause of death was by strangulation, which changed the classification of the case to a murder investigation.
Police have not released a motive for the murder.
