Among the three people arrested last Friday for allegedly attempting a pair of armed robberies in the village of Bath was a 25 year old Steuben County corrections officer.
Derek Storms of Wellsville is charged with two counts of attempted robbery and conspiracy. Officers responded to Colonial Lawns apartments just after midnight last Friday for the report of a woman assaulted.
Less than an hour later, police were called to a residence on West Washington Street, after three people allegedly entered an apartment with handguns. A weapon was allegedly discharged during that incident.
Two Bath residents were also charged for their involvment in the incident.
According to the Corning Leader, Storms was hired last October at a salary of 32 thousand dollars. He was placed on administrative leave immediately and new Sheriff David Cole was expected to meet with Storms late this week to discuss the future of his employment.
