An early morning fire in Schuyler County Wednesday killed a woman.
Firefighters from Tyrone, Dundee, Wayne, Watkins Glen and Himrod all responded to 4540 Six Corners Road in the town of Tyrone shortly after 2 a.m.
One person inside the home, a man in his seventies, escaped the fire, but a woman in her mid-sixties did not. The identity of the woman will not be released until her family is fully notified. The man that escaped suffered minor burns and is staying with family.

It took firefighters about 45 minutes to extinguish the fire, but they remained on the scene through the morning dousing hot spots. The cause is not yet known
