The Annual Musselman Triathlon brings in the dough! That's what Race Director Jeff Henderson will present tonight at the Geneva City Council Meeting. The economic impact study for the 2012 race has been released. 4 million dollars was filtered through Geneva, Ontario and Seneca Counties as well as the Finger Lakes Region. City Manager Matt Horn says, Jeff did some ground work.
The study showed that the race attracted 1,688 participants, as well as 2,159 family/friends accompanying those racing. The study also calculated that participants spent $1,877,338 locally during their stay. In addition, Musselman paid out $88,243 to local suppliers and made $25,556 in contributions to area non-profits.
The 2012 edition of Musselman brought 1,688 competitors to Geneva. While Musselman weekend draws in many participants from the Finger Lakes region, locals are not the majority.
