The victim of the Cascadilla Gorge Death Investigation has been identified as 32-year old Alan A. Young-Bryant. His death appears to be from an accidental fall into Cascadilla Gorge. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday at Lourdes Hospital. Bryant was a former Cornell Graduate Student who was residing in Los Angeles, California.

On December 5, 2012 at about 7:39 am the Ithaca Police Department responded to the Cascadilla Creek near the intersection of Linn Street and University Avenue for the report of a dead body in the gorge. This area is commonly referred to as Treman Triangle. Responding officers located the body of a male, later determined to be 32 years of age, near the gorgetrail.

This person was deceased. The body was removed and a Death Investigation has commenced.
The name of the person is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The cause of death has yet to be determined, however at this preliminary stage it appears that foul play is not suspected. Further information will be released as it becomes available.
