A tenured teacher with the Corning-Painted Post School District has resigned after being arrested for allegedly trying to buy narcotic drugs without a prescription.

Heather Darcangelo was an English teacher at Corning West, but was reassigned to Northside Blodgett school after cuts at the end of the last school year.
She was arrested in July after police were tipped off she was trying to buy drugs. Darcangelo was charged with attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Her resignation will be voted on by the school board at its Wednesday meeting.
