The oooey-gooey mess will be gone soon. Last summer, small black balls of goo surfaced at Kershaw Beach in Canandaigua forcing the beach to be closed and a pretty involved clean up operation to be undertaken. According to City Manager Kay James, there is one more section of waterfront to do and then they will clean out the upland area just west of the beach.
The debris which contained crank case oil was deemed contaminated but not hazardous, and James says that's good news.
