It's Geneva's formal start to the Holiday Season. Hundreds will gather around City Hall Friday night starting at six for the annual tree lighting ceremony. City Clerk Doris Myers says one child under 10 gets a chance to assist Mayor Ron Alcock flip the switch.

They will have popcorn, hot chocolate, activities for the children, contests, Christmas caroling and a visit from Santa who arrives on the fire truck at 6:30pm. The City Hall Tree lighting festivities date back to 2000.
