More talk about a proposed senior housing project in Auburn.
Tuesday the Auburn Industrial Development Authority (AIDA) held a public hearing to discuss a request by Calamar Construction for a 10-year payment-in-lieu-of-taxes (PLIOT) agreement. Calamar wants to build a three-story apartment building in a wooded lot near Standart Avenue, Grant Avenue, Catlin Street, and North Lewis Street.
Earlier this year, AIDA rejected a request for a 20-year PILOT agreement for the same project.
Those opposed to the project say it will increase traffic and after construction really provides no new jobs. Those in favor say it will keep aging seniors in the Auburn community.
AIDA board members will vote on the PILOT agreement when they meet on Monday, December 10th.
