As the deadline to avoid the fiscal cliff nears, Congressman Tom Reed is again reiterating his willingness to increase federal revenues through limiting tax deductions. The Corning Republican has joined the growing ranks of Republicans backing away from a pledge signed a decade ago by nearly all federal GOP candidates in which they promised not to raise taxes. Reed says he does need 2 fundamental questions answered by Democrats....
Reed’s a member of the tax-writing Ways and Means Committee, which would be central in any tax reform. He is the only New York Republican on that committee.
