A Union Springs man admits to setting a fire to cover up a crime. James Workman was in Cayuga County Court Thursday morning. Workman, 24, told the judge he set fire to an unoccupied house in Union Springs three days after stealing scrap metal there.
The homeowners were away while their home was being renovated.
Workman pled guilty to 3rd degree burglary and 3rd degree intentional arson, both of which are felonies. Because he admitted guilt, Workman was sentenced to 2 1/3-to-7 years in prison.
