NOON UPDATE:
The operation is over and he is back in his room. Text and Facebook alerts went out quickly this morning spreading the word that Baby Blake, the son of Tracey Purdy and Dean Simmons of Seneca Falls, came through heart transplant surgery just fine today. Tracey tells us her emotions are all jumbled up .
It will be a little time yet before he is fully alert ...
Blake had NON-COMPACTION CARDIOMYOPATHY, which is a rare congenital heart defect that impacts muscle development. He might be home by Christmas.
Tracey is flabbergasted with all the love and support from the community over the last 2 months

A Seneca Falls infant is getting his second chance at life. Last night Baby Blake underwent a heart transplant at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City.
“Baby Blake” was born with a congenital heart defect so serious that a heart transplant is his only chance of survival.

Blake's parents Dean Simmons and Tracey Purdy got the news yesterday that the operation would start around 9pm last night, it got underway about midnight. They baby was still in surgery early this morning.
Dean has been at home in Seneca Falls he works full time, while Tracey and Blake have been waiting for the transplant in New York City. Dean and grandparents have traveled to NYC to be threre during the surgery.
No word yet on Baby Blake's condition.

Several fund-raisers have been held by friends to help with the massive expenses of a prolonged hospital stay several hours from home. At the premier last night of the Twightlight movie in Geneva, Twilight fans and the Finger Lakes Radio Group raised another $250 for the family.
