The results are in! Democratic US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand has won election to her first full term representing New York, overcoming Republican Challenger Wendy Long. Gillibrand replaced Hillary Clinton, who became secretary of state, back in 2009. Gillibrand was allowed to finish Clinton's old term in 2010, and now she will serve a six-year term.
Gillibrand said during her acceptance speech that hard times will be ahead for New Yorkers.
