Back in August, the Schuyler County Legislature voted on a local law that would eliminate the old three district legislative plan and phase in eight new districts over the course of three years.Today, the referendum goes before voters in the county. County Administrator Timothy O'Hearn explains why the Legislature explored this option of re-districting.
The legislature's vote this summer passed 5-3 with lawmakers Glenn Larison, Doris Karius and Barbara Halpin casting no votes. If voters approve, the new districts would be implemented over a three-year period starting with the 2013 election. To see the redistricting plan, click here
