As National Domestic Violence Awareness month comes to a close, one more domestic abuser met his fate. Allen Burns is going to prison for eight years. Prosecutors say Burns, 29, violently assaulted his former girlfriend in two separate incidents last September.
The Auburn man smashed her head into a door frame, choked her and ran a knife down her thigh. Burns was convicted of three counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, four counts of second-degree assault, criminal obstruction of breathing and several violations.
At sentencing, the judge told Burns deserved punishment.
