The Ithaca police officer shot in the line of duty late Thursday remains in intensive care. Officer Anthony Augustine suffered a minor stroke sometime after the shooting on the 600 block of Chestnut Street.
The stroke has left Augustine with impaired vision, and his left arm and hand are not fully functioning. A dept. spokesperson said the movement of Augustine's arm and hand is tentative and that he may not regain full mobility. Augustine suffered a collapsed lung and has a chest tube in place.

The investigation into the shooting continues. Officers arrested 22 year old Jamel Booker of Ithaca hours after the incident. Booker has been charged with felony counts of aggravated assault of a police officer and criminal use of a firearm.
