
The suspect's name in the shooting of Ithaca Police Officer Tony Augustine has been released. In a news conference held by Ithaca Police Friday, Police Chief Ed Vallely described what happened Thursday night, when Officers responded to the report of a stolen vehicle, and the chase continued on foot.
Vallely then revealed the suspect as being 22- year old Jamel A. Booker, who was taken into custody early Friday morning without incident.

Criminal Investigators from the New York State Police, The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, Trumansburg Police Department, responded to assist the Ithaca Police Department with the investigation.
Officer Augustine underwent a second surgery yesterday, and is recovering.
