“A Decade of Quilting” Quilt show October 12-14th.
The Piecemakers Quilt Guild of Moravia is celebrating the guild’s 10th anniversary with a quilt show, “A Decade of Quilting” October 12th-14th, 2012, at the Locke Fairgrounds Building on State Route 38, Locke, NY.
There will be over 100 quilted items on display, ranging from eye-catching table toppers to king size beauties. The show features a large variety of styles and techniques including pieced, appliqué, bargello, paper-pieced, and embroidered projects, finished with machine, hand, or tied quilting. There are many recent quilts made by the members of the guild, as well as a sampling of antique and historical quilts owned by guild and community members. Visitors to the show will see examples of the guild’s many community service projects over the past 10 years and have the opportunity to purchase handmade gifts.
Six area quilt shops will convene in Locke to offer show visitors the opportunity to purchase fabric, patterns, notions and other “quilty” items. On Saturday, Certified American Quilters’ Society appraiser, Linda Hunter, will provide professional quilt appraisals that can be used for insurance purposes. Appraisals cost $45/quilt and will take about 30 minutes to complete for each quilt. To schedule an appointment please call: 315-729-3015.
A highlight of the show is the spectacular fall-colored raffle quilt made by guild members, being raffled to benefit the future activities of the guild. This king sized quilt is machine pieced and quilted, and would be a gorgeous addition to anyone’s home. Tickets are currently available from any guild member and will be sold throughout the show.
The show runs Friday Oct 12th, noon – 5, Saturday Oct 13th, 10 -5, and Sunday Oct 14th, 11-4. Light refreshments will be available for purchase. Please call 315-729-3015 for more information.
